In July the afternoon reaches 42 °C on the floor, against 36 °C on the rim. The best months to hike are from March to April and in November. The floor passes 35 °C from June to September: walk at dawn and carry water. The rim freezes at night from December to February. The wettest months are from March to April and from November to January.
